Amazing help from the Zurich Insurance Group Volunteers!

We welcomed a lovely group of Corporate Volunteers on 7 September from Zurich Insurance Group, with volunteers travelling from all over the southwest to come to The Brightwell.

After a tour of the Centre, the team got stuck in with a variety of tasks – including sweeping key areas, cutting back hedges and brambles and waterproofing the exterior of our lovely wooden storage shed. They also did a fantastic job of organising the inside of the shed, which was no easy task!

The team also planted flowers, grasses and shrubs in the garden that they had very kindly donated on the day.

In addition, the team did a brilliant job of waterproofing our two benches and revarnishing our raised beds as well as some of our garden furniture, helping to provide extra protection to the wood before autumn sets in.

The team were very interested to learn about everything we do here at The Brightwell and enjoyed refreshments and a light lunch from the Brightwell Café as well.

We are also delighted that Zurich have selected The Brightwell to receive a generous microgrant of £500, which will be donated to the charity later in the year. Such contributions are so appreciated and help us to continue our vital work.
